On the night of August 24th, a line of severe thunderstorms ripped through our community. The storms caused power outages, downed limbs, and widespread debris across several towns. Luckily, no one was hurt. But our beloved Heywood Building was, unfortunately, a casualty of nature.
Construction continues in earnest to reclaim the history Heywood Building on Main Street in Jennings! Thanks so much to all the generous donors who are making this feat possible!
We began work on Tuesday, Feb 10th on the north wall of the Heywood Building. As you can see, the façade of the building looks completely different without the distinctive black Carrara Glass!

A century old building in Jennings has been in danger of being demolished. The iconic Heywood building has been a part of Jennings since 1903, there were plans to demolish the building back in August but since then one former city leader has stepped in saying not so fast.
The Heywood Building has stood on the corner of Main and Market streets in downtown Jennings since 1903. But the building has seen better days. Now a grassroots effort is underway to help save the historic landmark from demolition and restore it.
